Celebrating Qatar’s National Sports Day, AFG College with the University of Aberdeen in collaboration with Nasser Bin Khaled group and Al Waab City organized the annual third Fun Run at Al Jassasiya Street in Al Waab. The event was attended by AFG’s Founder and Chairperson, H.E Dr Sheikha Aisha bint Faleh Al Thani, H.E Sheikh Nawaf bin Nasser Al Thani, Chairman of NBK Holding and H.E. Sheikh Khaled Bin Nasser Al Thani, Business Development Manager at NBK Group, along with staff and families of AFG College, partnering and sponsoring companies and the public.

More than 800 participants including students, lecturers, senior representatives of the supporting companies, families and members of the community took part in the 3km run, and enjoyed the various fun activations presented by Phiit Studio and Bounce.

H.E Dr Sheikha Aisha Al Thani said: “Every year, the vision of HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Amir of Qatar, is reflected by promoting sports as a lifestyle. The National Sports Day is a culmination of this vision and paves the way for the current and next generations to follow healthier way of life. We at AFG College adopt sports as a main component in our curriculum, encourage our staff, students and professors to do sports as a regular daily routine.”

H.E Sheikh Nawaf bin Nasser Al Thani said, “The participation of NBK Holding and its subsidiaries is a clear indication of our full commitment to the vision of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani. Our celebration in this event is in line with our continuous effort in supporting the national and community events which encourage people to meet and compete. Our objective is always to help raise a new generation that considers sports a main part of his lifestyle.”

Mr. Russell Williams, Provost of the AFG College with the University of Aberdeen campus in Qatar said, “The university continues to promote a culture of sports, physical and mental health as part of the modern education experience. It was great to see so many members of our community join us for this Sports Day event. Well done to all for their participation, endeavour and achievement. A special mention also goes out to our sponsors and partners for all the invaluable support they have provided for the event.”

At the end of the Fun Run, winners received their awards. While the first-place winner received a two-way ticket to Istanbul, the second place holder get a two-way ticket to Adana.

The AFG College with the University of Aberdeen Fun Run was co organized by Partners Nasser bin Khaled Holding and Al Waab City, and sponsored by Doha Insurance Group, Phiit Studiio and Bounce as Platinum sponsors, in addition to a list of Gold sponsors including Harley-Davidson, Lina’s Paris, NBK Travel & Tourism, and Q-Auto.

The Fun Run is one of the most exciting events held on Qatar National Sports Day. The Day encourages the people of Qatar to adopt a healthy lifestyle and stresses on the importance of sports in our daily life. The AFG College with the University of Aberdeen considers sports a main factor to build a healthy generation that will lead Qatar to a prosperous future.
