SPORTS NATIONAL DAY EVENT

Celebrating the National Sports Day, AFG College with the University of Aberdeen in collaboration with NBK Holding and Al Waab City organized a Fun Run at Al Ghariya Street in Al Waab area. Attended by H.E. Dr Sheikha Aisha Bint Faleh Al Thani, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of AlFaleh Educational Holding, H.E. Sheikh Nawaf Bin Nasser Al Thani, Chairman and CEO NBK Holding, H.E. Sheikh Nasser Bin Nawaf Al Thani, Second Deputy CEO of NBK Holding , Mr. Brian Buckley Principal of AFG College with the University of Aberdeen and senior representatives of the sponsors and supporting companies, the event attracted huge crowds of different ages including students, employees and their families.

The proceeds generated from this event were donated to Education Above All. Sheikha Aisha presented the cheque to Ms. Jawaher Kafoud, representative of the non-profit organization which supports education of children in different parts of the world. Dr Sheikha Aisha Bint Faleh, said: “The National Sports Day is a celebration of our nation’s commitment to fitness and a healthy lifestyle.  AFG College with the University of Aberdeen as well as Doha Academy staff and students celebrated the National Sports Day alongside our partners NBK Holding, Al Waab City and the rest of our sponsors. It is great to see that 300 enthusiasts applied to participate in the first Fun Run and other sports activities. I am also delighted that the Harley Davidson community joined us and entertained everyone with a fantastic show.  We have a great role model in His Highness Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al Thani the Emir, who made this day a day of celebration and we saw his Highness’ participation today as he joined cyclists.  I wish everyone a happy National Sports Day”. The institution is honored to be in a position to participate alongside the wider Qatari community on this very special occasion.” The Fun Run event, offered a range of added attractions, including, children’s   games, the Harley Davidson Qatar Chapter motorbike convoy, a display of new Mercedes-Benz and Mitsubishi vehicles as well as other family activities. The AFG College with the University of Aberdeen Fun Run was sponsored by Nasser Bin Khaled Automobiles the authorized general distributors of Mercedes-Benz in Qatar, National Industrial Contracting Company, NBK Travel, Lina’s Restaurants, Q-AUTO, the Doha Insurance Group, Doha Takaful and Harley Davidson Motorcycles.
