AFG College with the University of Aberdeen, NBK Holding and Al Waab City celebrated Qatar’s National Sports Day, with its second Fun Run which took place at Al Jassasiya Street in Al Waab. The event was attended by AFG’s Founder and Chair Person, H.E Dr Sheikha Aisha bint Faleh Al Thani, H.E Shk Nawaf bin Nasser Al Thani, Chairman of NBK Holding and H.E. Shk Jassim bin Nawaf Al Thani, Al Waab City representative, along with staff and families of AFG College, partnering and sponsoring companies and the public.

Despite predictions of bad weather, hundreds of students, lecturers, senior representatives of the supporting companies, families and members of the community turned out in support of the 3km run.

H.E Dr Sheikha Aisha Al Thani said: “Our annual National Sports Day is a way for all of us in Qatar to come together and show our support and dedication in helping to achieve a happier and healthier lifestyle. The fact that so many students and staff from AFG College have turned out, alongside members of the community is fantastic. I am always so encouraged when events like this take place and people from all walks of life come together in support of the vision of our Emir HH Shk Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.”

H.E Sheikh Nawaf bin Nasser Al Thani said, “I welcomed the opportunity for NBK Holdings and its subsidiaries to be part of such a special event. Now in its 8th year, our National Sports Day, which was gifted to us by HH the Emir Shk Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, continues to grow from strength to strength and as we’ve seen from today’s event it has become a real focal point for community engagement; which plays a key role in NBK’s wider support of the community that we operate in.”

Mr Brian Buckley, Principal of AFG College with the University of Aberdeen said, “We, as an institution, are committed to supporting the physical and mental health of our students and staff.  We are honoured by the support that we’ve received from our sponsors and I am heartened that so many members of our community have joined us in force to run with us for this special event”.
